Quick and Easy Layered Wreath Bow

I came up with this quick and easy layered wreath bow out of necessity. Yes, it was necessary for me to make this bow. Why? Because I needed the wreath to have some purple color added to it. (You know how it is, right?)

You see, we have this Autumn wreath on our front door, which I love. It was a housewarming gift from my parents when we bought our home 7 years ago.

Fast forward 7 years, and the entire front yard was made over into garden beds. (Post and pictures coming soon, I promise.)

Here’s a sneak peek of one of the new garden beds. I added the mums and pumpkins for color.

I also added some heather in purple and in white (and more pumpkins) in a different garden bed.

I searched my ribbon scraps bin to see what would match, and pulled out a piece of burlap, some plaid wire-edged ribbon, and silk ribbon. Both the plaid and silk ribbons have the exact purple shade I wanted needed.

I wrapped the plaid ribbon inside of the burlap, and tied it up in the center with the silk ribbon.

See the burlap string in the image below? I took off some strings on each end of the burlap, to make some fringed ends.

I tied the silk ribbon into a shabby bow.

Next, I shaped the plaid ribbon to my liking. (Love wire-edged ribbon – makes it so easy!)

To attach the bow to the wreath, I tied a length of twine around the bow’s center.

I made a few knots so there was an easy loop that I could hang over the wreath hook.

Since the twine matches the burlap, I didn’t have to worry about hiding it.

And now I have the purple shade I felt was necessary, yet didn’t want to spend more than five minutes putting together! (You know how that is too, right?)
